I recently got new wheels with a flat bronze finish. The words "made in japan" are engraved on the edge showing the natural color of aluminum, 10 or 15 thousandths below the surface. That has gotten me thinking, that perhaps smooth silver wheels are a better choice. Not only is a flat finish harder to clean but every chip and scratch is going to show noticeably, exposing the silver color of the unerlying metal. For sunday driver such as my Z, which is likely to never see a tire change (I also got new tires) or a lot of miles, perhaps flat bronze wheels are not going to be a big problem. In a DD however, exposed to the impacts of road debris and the rash of tire machines and their operators, these wheels will likely look pretty lousy sooner than later. i will post some pictures soon.
